![]() I've recently bought a kamado cooker and a brisket is on my list to try. I'd like to try out that place so I would know if I'm doing it right. I've seen a lot of people say their's turns out tasting like regular old roast beef.

![]() I honestly have no real legitimate reason to ever set foot in Lewis' ever again. I've been twice(2nd time I had no choice)
The turkey was dry and frankly believe the pork is better at fn Melvins in Mt P. My friend's brisket is just as good if not better. Left both times feeling completely ripped off. Never again. $8-$10 for a drink. Lmao at anyone who leaves this place feeling fullfilled instead of a flat out sucker

![]() Since there are some great Bar-B-Que Restaurants in the Greater Charleston Area and since we have these two new ones there, could someone do a list of the best ten in their best Bar-B-Que opinion?
I have tried Melvin's and really like it. The place on the Savannah Hwy was pretty good too, just can't remember the name of it. Just don't know a lot about other BBQ places down there as I usually focus on the great seafood in the Charleston Area. |

![]() Wises is not bad, but you can't even compare a place that doesn't cook on wood to Scott's (I haven't tried the Charleston version, so referring to Hemmingway) or Lewis's. Drive to the other side of Newberry, Cannon's does a lot better job than Wise's.

![]() I can't even compare Scott's to Lewis'. Scott's is where you want to get your "barbecue," i.e., pulled pork with vinegar pepper sauce. Lewis' is where you want to get your "Texas" brisky, i.e., kosher salt, coarse black pepper, and maybe some garlic.
Scott's is the best pulled pork I've ever had. Granted, I'm referring to Scott's in Hemingway, but I know it's the same sauce. I grew up in LC down the road from Scott's and it's the best pulled pork bar none. |

![]() Swig & Swine is better than both to me. It’s also much better priced. Lewis’s is better than Rodney Scott’s though.

![]() I haven't been to Scott's in Charleston yet, but I went to Lewis's twice after they opened.
My take on Lewis's....overpriced downtown food designed for trendy wannabe's and hipsters. It was generally underwhelming. The sausage was good, brisket was ok, but as someone else noted Swig and Swine has overall better Q and better sides. In fact, I'd rather get the generic weekend buffet at Bessingers on Savannah Highway than go back to Lewis's....more variety and all you can eat, and you'll wind up spending less money. Some of the reviews I've read on Scott's has me concerned he's going to fall into that downtown trap of high prices/small portions, but I have to get over there and see what he has. |

![]() Lewis BBQ is very good but overpriced. I generally get a sandwich there because it seems to be the best value. Their sides are limited but pretty good. Overall it's very good though and I end up going about once every 2 weeks.
I've given the Scott's on King St a chance about 5-6 times and each time it's been extremely disappointing. BBQ is dry and tasteless.

![]() Well, I finally got a chance to go to Rodney Scott's Bar-B-Que Restaurant in Charleston, SC today and I am going to tell you - IT WAS OUTSTANDING!!! We had the pull pork, which was awesome, ribs that were so good that I almost ordered me another plate of them. The sides we had were Mac & Cheese and Collard Greens and I have got to say that both were Top Of The Line For Me. I have eaten Bar-B-Que all across SC and GA and this was as good or better than any I have ever had.
Rodney Scott came out to my booth and spoke with me and my wife and is a very nice fellow - who knows his craft very well. I would find it hard to say I did not like this bar-b-que unless Rodney Scott had a bad day. This was a great meal, he is a good guy, and every time I go back to Charleston, SC, I will make a special trip to go by and visit this great Bar-B-Que Restaurant. |
